Northeast US Road Trip 2022 - Dear Diary by Lyra - Day 1

Date: 2022/05/28

Title: The Journey!

I woke up at 6am (no alarm) feeling excited. In around 8 hours I would be in America! I got into the clothes I had laid out the night before, then I zipped up my suitcase and hand luggage bag. My mum came and took my bags downstairs.

An hour later my family and I were waiting outside for the taxi. Once we got in we were all chatting and I saw my grandparents! Next I may have mentioned leaving my dad behind if he had Covid... Anyways, once we arrived at the airport we did security and stuff. Then we got some food and me and my little sister got toys (LOL dolls).

The plane ride was uninteresting except for at the end my little sister lost her doll so I gave her mine. Annoyingly, we had to go to the car rental place and my dad was in the queue for about half an hour then my nana and grandad arrived, (their flight finished later than ours). They had a golden pass so they got their car instantly. Luckily they took me and my older sister so we got to go although the car that they picked had a broken engine or something so we wasted time getting a new one. Then we went in the car and me and my sister (Zaria) kept taking pictures, trying to get a good one (eventually we did.. I think).

Then we arrived at the hotel. We went to my grandparents room as my parents and younger sister hadn't arrived yet. I knew it was the same as ours so when my parents and sister came there were no surprises. After that we went swimming (the hotel had a pool) and while changing my mum asked if our hair was getting wet and we said yes. Then my dad said "Im getting mine wet" (he is bald) so I said "Are you going to wear a mask then?" After swimming we went to the hotel bar to have dinner. I was really tired at this point because of time difference so after I lay on the couch nearby while they finished eating. When dinner was over I practically pounced into bed and fell asleep.
